Common Questions

Definitely! I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual sessions using Zoom for Healthcare, providing you with the flexibility to engage in therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own space. This approach ensures consistent support, regardless of your location or circumstances. Zoom for Healthcare ensures that your personal health information is protected through features such as end-to-end encryption, secure access controls and a formal Business Associate Agreement between Zoom and my practice, Healing Minds, LLC. These measures uphold the confidentiality and integrity of our sessions, providing you with a safe and private space for therapy. However, ethical standards of care and practice are different for coaching, yet, I use the same platform for all virtual work so rest assured, your personal information is safeguarded.

Yes! Research consistently shows that virtual therapy is as effective as in-person sessions. A large-scale study published in Psychology Today analyzed data from over 27,500 individuals and found that online therapy yields comparable improvements in mental health outcomes, client satisfaction and therapeutic alliance to traditional face-to-face counseling. And a 2023 study published in Psychological Medicine found comparable outcomes between online and face-to-face therapy, highlighting similar reductions in symptoms and therapeutic alliance . However, I understand that transitioning to virtual therapy can feel different for some individuals. It's completely normal to have questions or concerns about this format. Together, we'll ensure that the virtual setting supports your comfort and therapeutic goals.

Likewise, virtual coaching can be just as effective as in-person coaching, and in some cases, even more effective. Studies have shown that virtual coaching can lead to improved goal definition, work-life balance and increased productivity, similar to in-person coaching, according to Regent University.

Whether you're embarking on a path of self-discovery for the first time or continuing your journey of personal growth, taking this step is an act of courage. It's completely natural to have questions about my process. Drawing upon my extensive training across diverse therapeutic modalities, I offer a tailored approach to meet your unique needs. While our sessions will follow a structured framework, we'll collaboratively explore what brings you in, delve into your personal history and identify the changes or outcomes you're seeking.

Absolutely! A trauma intensive offers a focused and immersive approach to healing that can be more effective than traditional weekly therapy sessions. These intensives condense months of therapeutic work into a short period, allowing for rapid progress in processing and integrating traumatic experiences. This concentrated format enables individuals to address deeply rooted wounding without the prolonged timelines often associated with conventional therapy. By dedicating extended time to therapeutic work, clients can experience profound shifts in a condensed time frame, making it an ideal choice for those seeking accelerated healing.

You can expect three to six months of weekly therapy in one, highly concentrated weekend! The three-day couple’s intensive offers an immersive alternative to traditional weekly sessions, providing couples with the opportunity to address deeper issues in a focused, supportive environment. This structured format allows for real-time exploration of relationship dynamics, enabling couples to experience and shift patterns as they arise rather than waiting for the next session to get support. With extended sessions, there's ample time to delve into individual and relational concerns without the constraints of time-limited appointments. This approach fosters a responsive and flexible therapeutic process, adapting to the needs of the couple as they evolve throughout the intensive. By dedicating uninterrupted time to the relationship, couples can confront challenges head-on, facilitating meaningful change and deeper connection.

It is actually my favorite choice! Equus Coaching™  is valuable because it provides a powerful and unique environment for self-discovery, leadership development and personal transformation, all while being guided by the natural wisdom and responsiveness of horses without the traditional session time limit. One or two half-day intensives allow for a deepening of each process with the horses as well as strategic coaching sessions outside of the round pen, arena or pasture. No horse experience is necessary and all work is done on the ground.

Your journey toward healing and self-discovery is deeply personal, so the duration of therapy or coaching varies for everyone. Together, we will regularly assess your progress and adjust our approach to ensure that our work continues to resonate with your evolving goals and needs.

Taking the first step is simple. To begin our work together, please schedule a free 15-minute consultation. This brief conversation allows us to determine if we're a good fit for each other and ensures that I can support your specific needs. It's a low-pressure way to assess whether my therapeutic style aligns with your expectations and comfort. Research indicates that this initial interaction is crucial in establishing a strong therapeutic alliance, which is a key predictor of successful outcomes. If we determine that we're a good match, we can proceed to schedule a full session. If not, you'll have the clarity to continue your search for the right fit.

To facilitate a smooth and efficient start to our work together, all essential forms—such as intake documents, informed consent and privacy agreements—will be emailed directly to you after your first session.

Absolutely. I am committed to supporting your growth and healing by collaborating with any healthcare providers who are involved in your care and can contribute to your therapeutic progress. To facilitate this collaboration, I require a signed Release of Information (ROI) form, which allows me to share pertinent information while maintaining your confidentiality and complying with HIPAA regulations.

Please note that time spent on coordination of care, including communication with other providers, is billed at my standard hourly rate. This ensures that all aspects of your treatment are given the attention they deserve.

I am committed to making therapy accessible and will gladly discuss my fee structure with you directly. As an out-of-network provider, I do not participate directly with any insurance plans. However, many clients receive partial reimbursement through their insurance. To assist with this, I provide a monthly statement that you can submit to your insurer. It's a good idea to contact your insurance company beforehand to understand your out-of-network mental health benefits. Please note, some companies no longer cover virtual sessions, so double-check prior to our first meeting. Please also note that submitting an insurance claim means I will need to give you a mental health diagnosis.

Regarding coaching services, insurance typically does not cover this cost and I can engage with you in my coaching capacity without geographical limitations.

To maintain the integrity of our work together and respect the time commitment involved, I require a minimum of 48 hours' notice for any cancellations or rescheduling of appointments. This allows me the opportunity to offer the time slot to another client in need.

  • Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice will incur the full session fee.
  • Limited exceptions will be made to this policy, at my discretion.

In the event of an emergency, I will make every effort to accommodate a rescheduled session within the same week, subject to availability.

Please note that insurance companies do not reimburse for missed sessions. Therefore, clients are personally responsible for the full fee of any sessions missed or canceled without adequate notice. By scheduling an appointment, you acknowledge and agree to this cancellation policy.

To maintain the integrity of our therapeutic relationship and ensure the highest quality of care, I do not engage in clinical work or respond to therapeutic-related communications outside of our scheduled sessions. This includes emails, texts or messages through any platform other than for scheduling purposes. Such boundaries are essential for preserving the effectiveness of our work together and upholding ethical standards. If you need support outside our planned time, please schedule an additional appointment. This ensures that our sessions are focused, productive and conducted within a professional framework.

I appreciate your understanding and respect for these boundaries, as they are fundamental to creating a safe and effective therapeutic environment.

While I am committed to supporting you on your therapeutic journey, it's important to note that I am not always available during times of crisis. Therapy is a valuable resource for ongoing support and personal growth; however, in moments of acute distress or emergency, immediate assistance is essential. If you are experiencing a crisis, please consider reaching out to the following resources:

  • Local Emergency Services: Dial 911 for urgent assistance
